YFS of ADI Sickle Cell Blood Drive

YFS of ADI needs your help in saving the lives of our community members. This Saturday, July 18, 2009, as part of YFS Weekend, we'll hold a sickle cell blood drive to raise awareness about

this debilitating blood disorder and its disproportionate affect on the Black community.

90% of all children born with sickle cell are of African descent. Individuals with sickle cell, which mutates one's red blood cells, are in constant need of blood transfusions.
You can help by donating one pint of blood this Saturday.

It only takes an hour (giving blood is 10 minutes or less). It won't cost you anything, and you can rest assured that you'll be helping someone, possibly a member of your community, live one day longer.

*If you have concerns about your eligibility as a donor, please see Myths About Giving Blood.

Not that you need an incentive to save someone's life by simply donating a pint of blood, but in case you do, the American Red Cross is raffling a weekend getaway and $2,500 in free gas to any person who donates blood between July 6 and Sept 20. Please see the American Red Cross's Summer Promotion for more details.
