Philadelphia's clean energy economy to guide Sen. Arlen Specter

Can you help show Philadelphia's clean energy economy to Sen. Arlen Specter?

Sen. Specter has an important role in passing a strong clean energy jobs bill that's moving through Congress right now—but Big Oil and Coal are lobbying hard to water it down. So he needs to hear from local constituents who demand bold investments to seize the clean energy opportunity.

That's why MoveOn members have spent weeks organizing a Clean Energy Jobs Day—a unique tour of local clean energy businesses, from solar panel installers to retrofitted car plants. Local residents and media will be there and we've even invited Sen. Specter—and we need a good crowd to show how many people in Philadelphia support a clean energy economy.

Will you attend the tour on Thursday, May 28, 2009, at 9:00 AM?

Yes, I'll be there.

The goal of the Clean Energy Jobs Day is to show Sen. Specter and the media that there's deep grassroots support in Pennsylvania for clean energy jobs legislation.

But it'll also just be interesting and fun to see what's happening in your community. Local MoveOn members have put a lot of time into organizing this event, and we're hearing great stories from around the country about what's planned. Here are just a few examples:

* In Boulder, Colorado, local solar systems manufacturers are mounting interactive displays for kids to use and learn about solar panels.
* In Asheville, North Carolina, high school students are coming to represent future employees in the clean energy industry.
* In Philadelphia, a car-sharing company will provide free rides from site to site.
* In Rockford, Illinois, "tour guides" wearing green shirts will lead bikers through the stops on the tour.

What else will you find when you come to your local Clean Energy Jobs Day? We'd love for you to see for yourself—and we need your presence to help send a strong message to Sen. Specter about the depth of support for clean energy jobs.

Can you come on Thursday, May 28, 2009, at 9:00 AM? RSVP for Philadelphia's Clean Energy rally
